Race Precinct

Location of Race Precinct

The Race Precinct is located at the Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport. It is the centre of all the action and atmosphere on race weekend and features the start and finish lines, event entertainment lawn, food and beverages, toilets, bag drop, information booth, a lost persons’ tent and it’s easily accessible via the G:link rail.

Getting to the Race Precinct

It is recommended you arrive at the Race Precinct one hour before your race starts and to your start zone at least 20 minutes before the starter’s gun fires. If you are not at the start area when the gun is fired, you may not be allowed to start.

Transport Options

Start Lines

There are three start lines used over the Gold Coast Marathon weekend.

The South start line is located on the Gold Coast Highway adjacent to Carey Park at the Southern Southport Broadwater Parklands. This start line will be used for the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon and the CPL Wheelchair Marathon with both races will head south in the eastern lanes.

The East start line is located on the Gold Coast Highway adjacent to the Nerang Street intersection. This start line will be used for the CPL Wheelchair 10km and the Southern Cross University 10km Run with both races heading south in the eastern lane.

The West start line is located on the Gold Coast Highway south of Nerang Street. This start line will be used for the Half Marathon, Gold Coast Airport 5km, Gold Coast Bulletin 4km Junior Dash, Wheelchair 4km and Gold Coast Bulletin 2km Junior Dash with all races heading north in the western lanes.

Finish Line

All races will finish on the eastern side of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, between the Aquatic Centre and the Broadwater.

There will be a single finish chute with only one race finishing at the one time providing even more space and prestige for runners completing their race.

Recovery Area

After crossing the finish line, runners will enter the participant-only Recovery Area. Within this area, runners will have access to a medical centre, Fixx Fuel X, fruit and bottled Nu-Pure water. It is here where runners will receive their finisher rewards.

Event Lawn

The Event Lawn features the stage where all presentations are conducted, a big screen with live race vision, a variety of food and beverages, bag drop and the information booth.

Information Booth

The Information Booth will be located at the Race Precinct event lawn on Saturday and Sunday.

The booth will be for all event-related enquiries such as directions and maps, the central point for lost property and includes computers for you to view live race day results.

Legends Club

Legends club inductees can collect their commemorative polo shirts, certificates and trophies from the Legends Clubhouse on the eastern side of the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. Past and present Marathon Legends can catch up with old friends and welcome new runners at the Gold Coast Marathon Legends Clubhouse.

Inductees and Gold Coast Marathon Legends will have the opportunity to meet event ambassadors at scheduled times over race weekend and have special access to a pre-race bag drop and complimentary post-race massage service.

Toilets

Toilet hubs can be found throughout the Race Precinct. Toilet hub locations include on the event lawn, bag drop lawn, the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and Anzac Park.

Bag Drop

You can leave belongings at the Bag Drop tent located on the bag drop lawn behind the presentations stage from 5:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday 6 July 2024 and 5:00am to 1:30pm on Sunday 7 July 2024.

Belongings should be placed in a bag drop bag collected with your race number, marked with your name and race number. Use the tent designated to your specific race to retrieve your luggage. Volunteers will take the utmost care to secure the tents, however valuables should not be left in bags.

Belongings must be collected before 1:30pm on Sunday 7 July or they will be treated as lost property. Organisers will not be responsible for theft or loss of property.

Clothes left at the start line

Clothing left at the start line and Race Precinct will be donated to charity. Please do not leave valuables in your clothing at the start line as all items will be removed immediately after each race start.

Lost Persons Tent

If you are unable to locate a family member or friend, please visit the Lost Persons Tent. It is located next to the First Aid Tent and opposite the Information Booth. Our staff and volunteers manning the Lost Persons Tent have resources to help you reunite with your loved ones. Our procedures are reviewed and approved by the Queensland Police Service.

Presentations

All presentations will be conducted on the stage on the Event Lawn.

Spectator viewing

Be a part of buzz and excitement of Australia’s leading marathon by lining the Gold Coast streets from Runaway Bay to Miami and encourage thousands of runners to marathon glory. Soak up the thriving atmosphere with live local entertainment at various vantage points along the 42.195 kilometre course. You can also follow a runner’s progression via our results feed or live webcast.
