On the second half of the race:

“There were a few men ahead of me – it was tough. I was fighting for every minute out there and I gave it my all.”

On trying to break the race record:

“I was battling the second half of the race. I couldn’t keep the pace going but I’m still grateful for today.”

On her love for the Gold Coast:

“I love this place. It’s the best place for this event and I look forward to coming back next year.”

2^nd – Sinead Diver (AUS) 1:09:53

On her preparation:

“My preparation was really good. Training went well and I had a good 10km a few weeks ago in Launceston (3 June, 1st).”

On her race today:

“I’m very happy.  I was a bit worried at the 18km. I knew I was in form but it depends how you feel on the day. I put everything into it. Sara is an amazing runner and to come second to her today is great.”

On her second placing:

“I ran sub 70 minutes which is what I was aiming for, so I’m happy to have gotten a PB. Today I wanted to challenge Sara Hall, Laura Thweatt and Ellie Pashley to make sure I was up there in the running. Trying to keep up with Sara was my biggest challenge, but it was good to have someone to chase.”

On her love for the Gold Coast course:

“The conditions were perfect and the crowd support was awesome. This is one of my favourite races, so next year I’ll be back again and one day I would love to do the full marathon here.”

On her plans for the rest of this year:

“I want to do a marathon later in the year. I haven’t picked one yet but the marathon is my main event. I’ve used this race to keep in shape.”
