The son of  fundraising supremo Claude ‘the Mowerman’ Harvey is proof that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree after signing up to compete in the gruelling Bravehearts 777 – 7 marathons in 7 states in 7 days.

The seventh and final marathon in the Bravehearts 777 challenge will be in Ian’s backyard at this year’s Gold Coast Airport Marathon on Sunday 5 July.

Inspired by his dedicated dad who has raised close to $700,000 for Bravehearts by pushing a lawnmower around the county, Ian aims to raise $10,000 for Australian children affected by sexual assault.

“My dad is such an amazing man and I hope my son is just as proud of me as I am of my dad,” Ian said.

“As a father, I am committed to child protection and I can’t thank Bravehearts enough for the amazing work it does in the community to keep kids safe.

“Running seven marathons in seven states on seven consecutive days is going to be a crazy challenge but the thought of helping Aussie kids will help me cross the finish line.”

Mentored by three-time Uncle Toby’s Ironman series winner Guy Andrews, the Bravehearts 777 is not just for the avid fitness fanatic but for those weekend warriors who have a passion to protect kids while putting themselves to the ultimate challenge.

“Seven marathons in seven states in seven days is a remarkable challenge and I am honoured to be part of this adventure which is raising needed funds for a charity that supports the most vulnerable members of our society – our kids,” Guy said.

“If you are adventurous at heart, this challenge will bring out the best in you – all you have to do is take the first step.”

Participants in the Bravehearts 777 can choose to run or walk the event and can do so individually or as part of a team.

Participants aim to raise $10,000 to help fund counselling, education and case management services for Australian children and their families affected by sexual assault.

Research shows one in five Australian children will be sexually assaulted in some way before their 18^th birthday – a number Bravehearts aims to halve by 2020 as it strives to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child with its Three Piers to Prevention – Educate, Empower, Protect.

Bravehearts777 will take place from June 29 – July 5, 2015.

The 37th annual Gold Coast Airport Marathon, an IAAF Road Race Gold Label race, will be held on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
