Wellington Point’s Geoff Smith, 38, was the first entrant in the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Virtual Marathon when registrations for the 1 – 31 July event opened today on Global Running Day.
Geoff celebrated the international celebration of running by signing up for the ‘Gold Coast Big Four’, an event bundle which includes the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Virtual Marathon, the ASICS Virtual Half Marathon, the Southern Cross University Virtual 10km Run and the Gold Coast Airport Virtual 5km Fun Run.
After training for the road event prior to its cancellation, Geoff has not relinquished his goal of completing a marathon this July.
“I have run four half marathons on the Gold Coast and this year’s was scheduled to be my fifth in a row, so I was keen to celebrate with my first full marathon at the event,” Geoff said.
The Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Virtual Marathon will be held Wednesday 1 – Friday 31 July 2020.
The virtual run is set to attract thousands of participants of all ages and abilities from all around the world taking on one of the six distances on offer including the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Virtual Marathon, ASICS Virtual Half Marathon, Southern Cross University Virtual 10km Run, Gold Coast Airport Virtual 5km Fun Run and the 4km and 2km Junior Dash.
