The youngsters are very happy that Garmin will sponsor the Garmin Junior Dash for the next three years.
The Gold Coast Marathon has confirmed that Garmin, a leading worldwide provider of wearable activity trackers, has become the naming rights sponsor of the 4km and 2km Junior Dash races, to be known as the Garmin Junior Dash.
When announcing the three-year partnership today, Events Management Queensland CEO Cameron Hart said Garmin’s encouragement of children to lead an active lifestyle aligns perfectly with the Gold Coast Marathon’s staging of Australia’s largest race for kids.
“Garmin is at the front of the pack in providing activity trackers for children, helping the youngsters stay active via some impressive technology, with which the kids really engage,” Mr Hart said.
“It’s fantastic to partner with Garmin as, like our junior races, they promote activity amongst children in a fun and exciting way.
Garmin Australasia General Manager Adam Howarth agreed that the partnership lines up precisely with the organisation’s approach to the younger generation.
“We’re excited to further our partnership with the Gold Coast Marathon in support of the Garmin Junior Dash,” Mr Howarth said.
“Garmin is extremely proud of its efforts in producing activity trackers specifically for children so they can stay active and be rewarded for keeping fit, a bit like the finisher rewards the kids receive when they cross the line on the Gold Coast to the cheers of their mums and dads.
“Our specialist children’s activity tracker, the vivofit jr. 2, helps us keep fitness fun for kids – an objective shared by the Gold Coast Marathon, so the partnership makes perfect sense.”
The Garmin Junior Dash is open to children aged 5 to 14 and forms part of the two-day program of the 40th Gold Coast Marathon which will be held on 30 June – 1 July 2018.
Entries open on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
