Marathon medals revealed with uniquely Gold Coast design

The 2023 Gold Coast Marathon finisher’s medals were revealed this morning with the stunning creations showcasing the new event logo and depicting a very definite Gold Coast palette and design.

The new branding adopts an abbreviated version of Gold Coast Marathon with a strong and straight angled GCM depicting a fast and flat course. The inner gentle wave design reflects the events scenic, coastal location. The blue and gold sum up the colours of the city, the bright gold of the sun and glittering blue surf, synonymous with the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast based designers, Epic Medals worked with the Gold Coast Marathon team to create a suite of bold and exciting medals that will hang around the necks of more than 22,000 participants in this year’s event.

Epic Medals CEO, Sally Jarvis said they were delighted to work with the GCM team to create a medal for each of the eight races that would reflect the passion, energy and excitement of the event and complement the branding.

“Epic Medals is a legacy of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games with members of the ceremonies team sharing a passion for delivering great events and stunning medals deciding to bring the business venture to life.

“From design, creating the mould, deciding on textures and colours, to the style of ribbon attachment, we work with our clients to ensure they have the very best reflection of their event in the medals for participants.” Ms Jarvis said.

Gold Coast Marathon Chief Operating Officer, Tony Mullen said the medals needed to make a statement about the iconic Gold Coast event and were an important tangible reward for participants to cherish alongside the ultimate goal of finishing their chosen event.

“We are very proud of this year’s medals and the very definite connection in their design of the Gold Coast’s key attributes being the beautiful coastline and our glorious weather.”

The 2023 Gold Coast Marathon weekend (1-2 July) will also feature the ASICS Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km Run, Gold Coast Airport 5km Run, the Health and Wellbeing Queensland 2km and 4km Junior Dashes and the CPL marathon and 10km wheelchair races.

The Gold Coast Double 63.3km event – contested by hardy runners competing in both Saturday’s half and Sunday’s full marathon – will also be contested.

Gold Coast locals 20 % discount on entry applies until the 28 April early bird deadline.
