Race Weekend Activation Times

The Race Precinct is open from 5:00am on both days.

  • Saturday 4th July – 5:00am to 13:30pm – after this time our roads will reopen, and you can access the site for any restocking if required. Please let us know in advance if this is required.
  • Sunday 5th July – 5:00am to 14:30pm – as soon as the roads have reopened, bump-out of the event site can begin.

For both days the GCM team will inform you when the roads have reopened as it can be earlier or delayed depending on the race finish times.

IMPORTANT: Please do not drive any cars in to or out of the precinct before you have received confirmation from the operations team.

We recommend arriving at GATE A and making your way to the roundabout. There will be a Traffic Controller at this point who will provide further instruction.

GATE B is a secondary access point and easiest exit point out of the venue.

Ensure the driver always drives slowly inside the event precinct, always under guidance by our team and with blinkers on. For more information, please see the Site Rules. 

If the driver has any questions on the day, advise them to contact our Marathon HQ.

Road Closures

During Race Weekend there are multiple road closures in place. For the full list of closures, click on the button below.

Road access to the Event Precinct will close at 4:00am and only pedestrian access will be available.

VIP Parking

VIP Parking is available for our sponsors & food vendors.

The parking is located at Carey Park carpark which is just across from the Event Precinct. See the map with the location below.

You will receive your carpark pass from your Gold Coast Marathon contact either prior to race weekend or at bump-in. The Parking Pass is required to be displayed from the rearview mirror and is a different pass for each day. If not properly displayed, you will be risking a parking fine.

SITE RULES

Responsibilities
  • Always wear a high vis vest or shirt during bump-in/out
  • A SPOTTER MUST ESCORT FORKLIFTS and VEHICLES at all times in public spaces at Broadwater Parklands
  • PPE should be supplied by all contractors for their employees and sub-contractors. Where workers fail to wear appropriate PPE workers will be asked to stop until such time as they are made available
  • Track matt or turf protection is required on all turfed areas. Ensure to inform the GCM team on your load to confirm what type of matting is required.
  • Do not take risks with your own health and safety. Avoid the temptation to overstep the bounds of your own competence
  • Respect others in the workplace and do not expose them to any risk because of your actions
  • Cooperate with others to maintain a safe workplace -follow instructions and warnings given by other contractors/crew when they relate to the safety of you, others and themselves
  • Report all incidents & unsafe working no matter how minor
  • Do not interfere with equipment used by others
  • Don’t turn things on or off that aren’t yours
  • Don’t borrow tools that aren’t yours
  • Don’t enter areas where others are working unless asked to do so
  • Seatbelts are to be worn while operating plant equipment fitted with seatbelts
  • Do not operate plant while on the phone, eating, drinking, or smoking
Hazards
  • Working at heights – critical safety issue (greater than 2.0 metres). Whenever working at any potentially dangerous heights, appropriate fall prevention/arrest measures must be used. Rescue procedures must be in place
  • Working with plant – accredited operators only.
  • Trip and falls – keep an eye out for trip hazards and if noticed, inform a GCM Team member.
  • Manual handling – use lifting aids or correct lifting techniques when lifting anything, please ask if you are not sure
  • Weather (wind, sun and rain issues) – use hats, sunscreen and shirts as appropriate
  • Noise – stay away from excessive noise, if not practical make sure to wear hearing protection
  • Driving on site – speed limit is 10kph with hazard lights turned on. A spotter must be used where necessary. Forklifts should be operated with a spotter
  • De-hydration – keep fluids up by drinking plenty of water
  • Tidy work areas
  • No chemicals on site without being approved by the GCM Operations/Project Manager and MSD sheets provided
  • All danger tags on electrical equipment and scaffolding must be obeyed

SAFETY INFORMATION

Medical

The first aid tent located within the precinct will be operational during the below times.

  • Saturday 4th July 5:45am – 1:30pm
  • Sunday 5th July 5:45am – 2:30pm

The first aid tent will be located on the main event lawn opposite the information booth.

Evacuation

In the event of an emergency that requires evacuation, announcements will be issued throughout the Precinct.

All patrons are to follow the direction of the Evacuation Wardens and evacuate the premises safely if asked to do so.

Suspicious Behaviour

In the unlikely event of any suspicious activity, please alert the Gold Coast Marathon team as soon as possible.

If you are unsure who to speak to, please inform our staff at the Information Booth.

Sponsor Signage Overview

Sponsor Signage is an important part of our event and is separate from the Precinct activation items.

Sponsor Signage requirements will be advised prior to the event by your GCM contact. Delivery and Collection timings to the event site are strict due to the temporary nature of the site.

Sponsor signage is to be delivered to the event site Tuesday 23rd June 2026 between 09:00am and 04:00pm and must be collected from the event site on Tuesday 7th July 2026 between 09:00am and 04:00pm.

Precinct Activation Information

The GCM Precinct Manager will advise you on your bump in window for the precinct activation. It is important to adhere to these times as there are a lot of moving parts during the precinct build, and if you miss your window, it may impact your possibility to bump in.

        Vendor Bump In & Bump Out Procedure
        • The GCM Precinct Manager will advise you on your bump in window. It is important to adhere to these times as there are a lot of moving parts during the precinct build and if you miss your window, it may impact your possibility to bump in.
        • Bump In will take place prior to Race Weekend as there is no vehicle access to site once the roads are closed. Any restocking can be done on Saturday afternoon once roads are reopened. Please inform your GCM Contact if you would like to do so, so they can assist with access to your site.

        WHS INDUCTION

        Introduction

        Events Management Queensland has a legal responsibility to:

        • Ensure the event runs smoothly and that WHS measures are in place during the build and over the race weekend
        • Address all safety issues
        • Liaise with local authorities
        • Monitor and enforce safe work practices
        • Enforce site rules – non-compliance notices will be issued

        Safety Officers will be monitoring conduct during the build phase to ensure safety is maintained at the highest level.

        Any contractor or personnel caught putting themselves/others in danger
        or not adhering to our site rules will be notified in writing with a non-compliance notice.
