Entries for the 41stGold Coast Marathon opened this morning with more than 28,000 participants from over 50 countries expected to participate in the event on 6 – 7 July next year.

Events Management Queensland CEO Cameron Hart said the Gold Coast is going through a purple patch and expects it to continue well into 2019.

“We’re nearing the end of a stellar year for major events in the region, with the Commonwealth Games, the 40th Gold Coast Marathon and last month’s Pan Pacific Masters Games all breaking records and generating huge buzz for the city,” Mr Hart said.

“We’ve seen this year that there is a strong appetite for events held here and we won’t be surprised if we see record participation from overseas, interstate and Queensland at next year’s marathon.”

“Those who weren’t a part of our 40thanniversary celebrations know that they won’t want to miss out again, and those who were here will be keen to come back and relive the excitement of this gold label race.”
