Race record tumbles as Reid and Huang claim Australia Fair 2km Junior Dash

A new race record has been set in the Australia Fair 2km Junior Dash today, with 14-year-
old Dylan Reid taking out the race in a blistering time of 6:04.

Reid finished second in 2025 and improved his time from last year by nine seconds to claim
a new race record and victory today.

He finished six seconds ahead of Seth Toghill and Tommy Behan who was third in a time of
6:12.

“It was pretty hot, but I felt pretty good in that last kilometre. And then coming into the final
straight, I still felt like I had a bit more to give, so I just finished off strong,” Reid said.

“I train at Ashgrove Rangers working on technique, which is really good.

“Over the past few years, I’ve got quite better at running with the form I’ve had and I’ve been
able to get these good times.

“Hopefully I can make it onto a bigger stage once day, like maybe the world championships.
That’s still a long way to go but I’m just hoping that I can keep getting these times.”

“My whole family’s here on this trip. My mum and sister are doing the 5km later. My brother
was in that race just there and my dad did the 10km.

13-year-old Brisbane product Victoria Huang claimed her third victory, the 2023 and 2025
girls’ winner this year also set a new race record of 6:21.

“I think it was pretty tough. I was a bit worried I wasn’t going to catch someone but I just had
to dig deep and give it all I’ve got,” she said.

“It was very nice. The downhill was pretty good at the start – I felt like I was flying.”

Second place in the girls’ race was Summa Firley in a time of 6:23 and third went to Elle
Down in a time of 6:43.
