Events Management Queensland (EMQ) has signed the biggest partnership in its history with sports performance brand ASICS lacing up a deal to partner across its three major events until 2032.
The long-term agreement includes the naming rights of the Gold Coast Marathon until 2032 marking a 30-year milestone in 2025 for ASICS involvement with the iconic event.
Speaking to the significance of the partnership between ASICS and the Gold Coast Marathon, EMQ CEO Ben Mannion said the organisation had demonstrated significant growth and opportunities for businesses to align with their events over the past few years.
“This agreement is a testament to ASICS’ confidence in the world-class events we deliver and the potential to further enhance sport participation at all levels.
“We’re thrilled to extend this partnership, which will enable us to strengthen connections with ASICS events globally.
“The positive ASICS brand philosophy of sound mind, sound body and the benefits of movement embody everything we promote and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
“We look forward to some productive years in the lead up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics,” Mr Mannion said.
ASICS Oceania Managing Director, Mark Brunton, said the partnership extension with EMQ is an exciting progression that continues to build upon the successful relationship between the two organisations.
“The Gold Coast Marathon event delivery is world-class and something we’re incredibly proud to have been a part of for the best part of three decades.
“We’re therefore excited to be a part of the continued growth of EMQ’s impressive portfolio of events, providing ASICS with a huge platform to showcase our performance product innovations and connect with Australians who share our love and passion for movement.
“We share a philosophy with EMQ that sport and movement have the power to make huge differences in people’s lives whilst also uniting communities. This partnership is therefore a great opportunity to celebrate that benefit with the many thousands of athletes, spectators and supporters attending EMQ events each year.”
Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) CEO Patricia O’Callaghan welcomed the extended partnership.
“We didn’t need more proof that these incredible events are world-class, but securing this partnership really does show the global reach of the Gold Coast Marathon, Pan Pacific Masters Games and now the up-and-coming Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon.
“The continued high demand for these events is a testament to the organisers and the spectacular host destinations and we see exceptional benefits to our visitor economy as a result.
“TEQ is proud to own and deliver these events through Events Management Queensland and are looking forward to them being runaway successes next year.”
City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate saidthe Gold Coast Marathon is hugely successful event, showcasing our spectacular city to a global audience and attracting record numbers of participants.
“Securing an international brand as an event partner through until 2032 is a strong endorsement of both the Marathon and the Pan Pacific Masters Games, and further enhances the Gold Coast’s credentials as a major sporting and events destination.”
