Gold Coast Marathon

1st – Kenneth Mungara (KEN) – 2:09:49

On his win:

“I tried my best and corrected my mistake from last year. I am very happy to win this race. The crowd was cheering and they helped me run faster. I thank God for all that he did to help me in this race.”

On his competition:

“The two Japanese runners were challenging me. Everyone was good, so I didn’t know who was going to take the win.”

On his future plans:

“If I get injured, if I get tired, if I am not in shape, I can’t come back. If I am in perfect condition and God gives me strength, I will be here next year.”

2nd – Kenta Murayama (JPN) – 2:09:50

“I was very happy with my race.  I have been training hard and was happy to run a personal best time.”

3rd – Jo Fukuda (JPN) 2:09:52

On his race performance:

“I was not happy with my race.  I vomited several times and I dropped behind.  I wasn’t feeling well during the race.”
