Garmin Junior Dash – Flash Quotes

Garmin 4km Junior Dash

1st Girl – Imogen Stewart (NSW) – 12:48

On her family’s involvement in running:

“My whole family runs and my Dad trains us.  I’ve been running since I was seven.  My Mum did really well in the 10km today (mother Belinda Martin placed fifth).”

On her performance:

“I’m really happy with how I went.  I couldn’t have done it without my friend and all the people who cheered me on.”

What she loves about running:

“I love the places we get to visit to run. I love Victor Harbour and I love coming here (Gold Coast).  We come here every year to run.”

On her future:

“I really want to make it to the Olympics when I’m older. I want to follow in the footsteps of my Mum because she was a really good runner.”

1st Boy – Flynn Pumpa (QLD) – 12:54

On his last kilometre:

“I was running as fast as I could but Imogen was too fast. I hope I can do better next year.”

On his celebration after the Junior Dash:

“I’m looking forward to having some fast food. I’ve been on a diet for a while now because of the training so fast food would be great.”

On his love for the Gold Coast Marathon:

“I’m definitely coming back next year. I love the atmosphere – the crowd is very upbeat and they push me to do the best I can do.”


Garmin 2km Junior Dash

1st Boy – Kobe Stewart (NSW) (9-10 age group) – 6:33

On winning the race:

“It was hard but I’m excited that I won.”

On how he will celebrate:

“I’ll probably go to the beach, fish and drink some water.”

On coming from a running family:

“My mum finished in the top five (in the Southern Cross University 10km Run), my sister (Imogen Stewart) could win the Garmin 4km Junior Dash, and my dad, Owen Stewart, is our coach.”

On who is faster out of he and his sister:

“My sister by far. Hopefully I’ll catch her when I’m older (Imogen is two years older).”

1st Girl – Analiese (Annie) Murphy (QLD) (9-10 age group) – 7:20

On winning the race:

“I would have liked to be in the top three overall, but I’m happy to have come first out of the girls. I would like to dedicate my run to my trainer Michelle who has been helping me for years.”

On how she will celebrate:

“I’m having a sleepover with my friend this afternoon.”
