AirAsia Legends Lunch to be a runaway success

Gold Coast Airport Marathon General Manager Cameron Hart today announced AirAsia have renewed their sponsorship of the 2013 Gold Coast Airport Marathon, to be held from 6 – 7 July 2013.

AirAsia will continue their partnership with the event as naming rights sponsors of the Legends Lunch for the third consecutive year and will support the event with a large corporate team from Malaysia.

“We are pleased to announce AirAsia as the naming rights sponsor of the Legends Lunch for the 2013 event,” Mr Hart said.

“The AirAsia Legends Lunch is a must-do event of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon experience and this year’s will be the biggest yet.”

In addition to carbohydrate-rich pasta, salad and delicacies, the AirAsia Legends Lunch will feature elite runners and coaches, legends and celebrities who will provide last-minute advice for race day.

“We’re excited to announce global running superstars in four-time Olympian, Commonwealth Games marathon gold medallist and Australian Chef de Mission Steve Moneghetti and 1988 Olympic marathon silver medallist Lisa Ondieki as hosts with more speakers to be announced,” Mr Hart said.

“The AirAsia Legends Lunch is the perfect way to prepare the day before the Marathon or Half Marathon and it’ll certainly settle any nerves participants may have.”

AirAsia will be giving all attendees of the Legends Lunch the chance to win two return flights from the Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur.

The AirAsia Legends Lunch will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 6 July from 12pm. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased through the event’s website www.goldcoastmarathon.com.au

The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is a major highlight on Queensland’s event calendar, attracting people from more than 30 countries and showcasing the Gold Coast as a premier sporting event destination.

This year’s race program will feature the full 42.195km Gold Coast Airport Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km Run, Suncorp Bank  5.7km Challenge and 4km and 2km Junior Dash races.

Organisers expect over 30,000 people will face the starter over the weekend.

Runners and walkers also have the opportunity to dedicate their run and raise funds for the official charity Cancer Council Queensland or for a charity of their choice.
