A women’s race record and the first back-to-back men’s winner in 17 years headlined the 38th annual Gold Coast Airport Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, in glorious Gold Coast conditions today.
Kenyan barber Kenneth Mungara today became the first back-to-back winner of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon since fellow Kenyan Fred Kiprop famously nailed the 1998 and 1999 double while the women’s race record tumbled at the hands of diminutive Japanese runner Misato Horie.
